Coming from a middle class income family, and being the only son in the family of seven members, life was really tough for him. After his school hours, he used to help out his father in his small shop and also did some odd jobs to generate extra income for the family. He gave up his studies when he was in Secondary Four and decided to work full time to ease the family’s financial burden.

He was spotted by the Managing Director of Sum Cheong Piling Pte Ltd who sent him for training in the field of construction line which was a stepping stone for him and set up his first Company in 1976. Since its inception in 1976, Mini Environment Service as a sole-proprietor Company, secured environmental cleaning, and construction sub-contract jobs. The company was incorporated in 1984 and since its incorporation the Company has grown 5 folds in business turnover and asset ownership which was made possible by the continuous hard work of Mr. Jaleel.

In 1993, in addition to the above services, he decided to attain leadership in the field of providing Quality Construction Support Services such as management, accommodation and transportation for the Company. Within 7years, a new division MESDORM (which was set up in 1994) with Government approvals, designed and purpose built 3 foreign dormitories namely called Kaki Bukit Hostel, Jurong island Dormitory and Blue Stars Dormitory.

After the 911 terrorist attack, the economic climate, period of uncertainty and due to safety and security reasons led to the closure of Jurong island Dormitory.

All these obstacles were not a setback for Mr. Jaleel. In fact he decided to go ahead with the building of the third dormitory (Blue Stars) and attained success. He is currently planning and looking out for another site to build his next dormitory.

He is also actively involved in community care activities. He has been providing faithful and loyal service as a member of the Bencoolen Mosque management committee for the past 21 years since 1980. In appreciation of his dedication, hard work, commitment, rational thinking and demonstration of leadership qualities, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Bencoolen Mosque Management Committee. Since his appointment of chairmanship, to date, he has been instrumental in steering the management committee towards the reconstruction of the mosque project.

Apart form giving his time, he also donates money to the financially needy Singaporeans towards their welfare and education which also includes the Indian/Indian Muslim organizations. He is also an active grassroots leader who supports many communities’ social and cultural projects and events.

His success is not only a remarkable milestone but it is a concrete proof of his continuous commitment and dedication in attaining an esteem position in the business community.

In the year 2005 National Day, he has been bestowed the PINGAT BAKTI MASYARAKAT (PBM) by MR PRESIDENT, S.R.NATHAN.

And his achievements and contribution to the nation will continue to grow.
